How The COVE’s Holiday Tradition of Volunteering Began

Dec 13, 2016

Animals, medicine, and community – these are a few of our favorite things! On Monday, December 5, 2016, The COVE team came together to carry out our favorite holiday tradition of volunteering. Throughout the year, The COVE works with local animal shelters and rescue organizations to get homeless animals adopted. We also sponsor community fairs and walk-a-thons to educate pet owners on pet health tips and to let them know that The COVE is there for them 24/7 when they need emergency care for their pets.

But we felt it wasn’t enough. We wanted to give back to the community through a non-animal related charity as well. A radio commercial informed us about holiday volunteer opportunities at the local Union Mission in Norfolk, Virginia. And so began our annual tradition of volunteering. This year marks our third event with Union Mission Food Bank.  We had a very meaningful and memorable time stocking the food bank shelves and packaging holiday meals for those in need.

Not only do we find the volunteer time a nice bonding event among our team members, there’s also the joy that comes from simply giving back to our community. We hope that if you are able, you will join in the season of giving. You can learn more about volunteer opportunities at Union Mission here.

Have a happy and healthy holiday season! And remember, our doors are open 24/7/365 if you need us.
